THE CONFUSED CHRISTIAN

The summer of my sixth grade year of school, I spent three days of July at a camp for students in my school district that were considered musically exceptional. I think my elementary music teacher had recommended me for the program, and when my mom opened the letter, she was dead set on making me attend. I wanted nothing to do with that camp or anyone in it, but I still spent the hours of those days from 9 AM to 3 PM in a classroom at a small high school.
It turns out that that camp would result in me meeting my middle school music teacher, receiving two years worth of piano lessons, switching schools and meeting some of my very best friends. Twelve-year-old Mckenzie cooped up in a ninety degree classroom would never have guessed that all of that would follow this program that I wanted no part of. But now that I look back on that summer, I'm so grateful for those three days and all of the opportunities it presented me with. (Side note: I dropped out of the program despite all of this - Haha! - but auditioned for the same program again, like, two weeks ago and got in. How crazy do I sound right now?)
I feel like this is how it is in our Christian walks sometimes. You may be put in a situation that you don't want to be in, or that seemingly has no purpose for you whatsoever. It's confusing and even frustrating - trust me, I've been in those shoes! Maybe you're saying, "God, um, what's going on? Are you sure this is where I'm supposed to be right now?"
1 Corinthians 14:33 - "For God is not a God of confusion but of peace."
John 13:7 - "Jesus answered him, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand."
Everything that God plans for our life is what's best for us (Romans 8:28). We weren't created to know why everything happens and how our lives are going to play out. That's why we have to remember that Christ knows what He is doing and that He wants us to be successful and happy in life (Jeremiah 29:11).
Proverbs 3:56 - "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not into thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."
