TO MY FUTURE HUSBAND

"I have found the one whom my soul loves." - Song of Solomon 3:4

Dear my future husband,

As I write this letter to you, I'm grinning and blushing with excitement for where life takes the two of us. I can only imagine how we'll meet, what you look like, where we'll go on dates, how you'll propose, what our wedding will be like. Just the thought of getting to spend the rest of my life with my best friend makes me so ready to meet you.

The idea of this letter seems so bizarre. I'm writing to a guy I might not even know. If someone showed me your face and told me your name, I might not recognize you. I definitely wouldn't say, "Oh, yeah, I know him. He's the guy I'm going to marry!" (Even though that would be so cool.)

I've always had this picture-perfect, Hallmark-movie story line marriage in my head. We'll meet in a coffee shop, joke around, get caught in the rain. We'll only have one huge fight over something so small and quickly get back together, falling in love like autumn leaves. You'll ask for permission to marry me, we'll say our vows, and live happily ever after forever.

(I know by now that that's not how life works. Not willing to crush my thirteen-year-old self's dreams, though. Haha!)

Wherever you are, whatever you look like, whatever you're doing, I hope you are in the Lord's will. I can't expect you to have a perfect relationship with Him - I mean, who does? Despite this, I pray that you're giving all glory to Christ and putting your family and faith above everything else. I hope that you're chasing after God's heart and growing spiritually every day.

I pray that you're doing well in school and finding your own ways to manage your stress. I hope that you're not afraid to be yourself, and that you don't care what others think of you. I pray that you are surrounded by positive people in your life that support and care about you.

I hope you find joy in each and every day. I pray that you don't let one bad thing get in the way of your happiness. I pray that you laugh until you get stomach cramps and you grin until your cheeks ache.

I can't wait to spend my life with you. I can't wait to have karaoke sessions in the car. (I hope you like High School Musical.) I can't wait to have late night movie marathons. I can't wait to go to church with you and have Sunday lunch with our closest friends and family. I can't wait to wake up at your side every single morning. I can't wait to hear the sound of our kids' excitement on their birthdays. I can't wait to decorate for Christmas together.

Take care of yourself. I'll see you soon.

With love,

Your future wife
